Tentsmuir is a 50 something ex- marathon/ still ultrarunner (ish) /mountainbiker with Asthma and Diabetes, often to be found going round in circles in the Tentsmuir Forest trying to make sense of the contradictions in history, Buddhist philosophy and Scottish malt whisky. Also to be found stravaiging in the mountains, trekking through jungles and lurking on Twitter @Tentsmuir and Facebook at Tentsmuir Runner

  1. You are quite an inspiration– as someone with Type 2 diabetes that is trying to live a much healthier lifestyle, I admire all that you’ve accomplished. I look forward to following your blog!

    • Thanks for the positive feedback, that’s both kind and encouraging to hear. Off to have a look at your site now. The more of us who can encourage each other the better 🙂

  2. Ooooh! I often run in Tentsmuir forest as well – could it be that we have crossed paths already?

Quite possibly. I tend to be in there 4-5 times a week so sure we’ll have passed. I tend to say hi to folks. Not sure if you are on FB but there is a running group dedicated to the Tentsmuir. Not a club, just folks encouraging each other, letting each other know of the latest wildlife sightings etc. Feel free to pop by: https://www.facebook.com/groups/115661021849186/

Thank you for the encouragement. When it gets cold here, and by cold in southern California I mean maybe 10 degrees Celsius, I know just what you mean about the lungs being “ablaze.” I can’t imagine running in sub 0 conditions. My battle, especially this year, is more with hot, dry, pollen-filled air. Every bit of the battle is worth it though. I just set a new personal record this past Sunday, and I can’t wait to beat it again! Best of luck to you, and looking forward to reading more.
